Job description
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and creative Architect with at least 5 years of professional experience in Pakistan’s architectural, construction, and regulatory environment. The candidate must be well-versed in local building by-laws, Pakistan’s climatic and cultural context, and capable of leading projects from concept to completion. The ideal candidate should demonstrate innovation, project management skills, and a commitment to sustainable and context-sensitive design.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop architectural designs for residential, commercial, institutional, or development-sector projects in line with local cultural and environmental context.
- Prepare detailed architectural drawings, working plans, and 3D visualizations using AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar tools.
- Ensure all plans comply with Pakistan Building Code (NBC-2007), local development authorities’ by-laws (e.g., SBCA, LDA, CDA), and other regulatory standards.
- Conduct site analysis, feasibility assessments, and prepare concept proposals and BOQs in collaboration with engineering teams.
- Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, and MEP engineers to ensure design integration and cost-effectiveness.
- Supervise construction works on site to ensure execution as per design intent and approved drawings.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and local government bodies for approvals and inspections.
- Manage project documentation, cost estimations, schedules, and reports throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- Integrate energy-efficient and climate-resilient design strategies suited to Pakistan’s geography and socio-economic conditions.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior architects and interns.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from a HEC-recognized university.
- Valid PCATP (Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners) registration/license is mandatory.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in architectural design and supervision in Pakistan.
- Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop/InDesign, Lumion or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of local materials, construction practices, and cost-effective design solutions.
- Familiarity with government approval processes and regulatory compliance for architectural submissions.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Urdu, both verbal and written.
- Strong project management and client handling capabilities.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in community development, low-cost housing, or NGO-led infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of LEED, EDGE, or other sustainable design frameworks (a plus but not mandatory).
- Portfolio demonstrating diverse design work, especially relevant to Pakistan’s urban and rural settings.
