Job description
Position Overview:
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for the overall operational, administrative, and strategic leadership of NJV School, ensuring smooth functioning, scalability, and alignment with the NGO’s mission of providing quality education. The COO will oversee day-to-day operations, enhance institutional efficiency, and drive sustainable growth while maintaining compliance with regulatory and donor requirements.
1. Strategic Leadership & Governance:
· Develop and implement operational strategies in line with the school’s vision and Board directives.
· Ensure effective execution of policies, programs, and initiatives.
· Act as a key liaison between the Board, management, staff, and external stakeholders.
· Implement, manage and drive results out of reporting and feedback mechanisms.
2. Operational Management:
· Oversee organization’s day to day operations at all locations (Administration, Procurement, Human Resource, IT Infrastructure) and guide the team towards efficiency and effectiveness.
· Monitor performance metrics and ensure accountability across departments.
· Develop policies and procedures to secure organization’s assets, operations and interests.
3. Financial & Resource Mobilization:
· Work closely with the Planning and Procurement committee to ensure sound planning, budgeting, and compliance.
· Develop daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting mechanisms on achievements, pending tasks, challenges and recommendations for improvements.
· Lead the cost saving initiatives to optimize the financial resources and acquire best value for money.
4. Teamwork and Collaboration:
· Build teams and communication channels to ensure issues are addressed and resolved in time
· Collaborate with all departments to build align resources and support required
· Train to staff in improving and raising the standards of organization’s operations
5. Stakeholder & Community Engagement:
· Present organization’s progress and details to Board of Directors and relevant committee as per schedule as well as when required
· Present organization’s and project’s progress and details to donors, government and other relevant stakeholders
· Build mechanisms to ensure all relevant stakeholders have access to relevant information and updates
6. Compliance & Risk Management:
· Ensure adherence to statutory laws, contract requirements and internal policies.
· Implement robust internal controls and risk mitigation strategies.
· Oversee audits, legal matters, and regulatory filings.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education: Graduation and above
Experience: 10+ years in leadership roles (Procurement, HR, Operations, etc)
Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong strategic planning and execution capabilities.
- Ability to develop operational systems and guidelines and train relevant people
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and operational analytics.
